Being told not to ask questions is absolutely insane to me- I feel extremely lucky to work for a company that has two full pages of our employee handbook dedicated to encouraging everyone to ask questions. It really makes me question how some people become managers and why they even accept positions where they are meant to oversee others and help them develop. The only motivation must be a pay raise... but at the cost of everyone around them, booooo
